Daniel Miller is the founder and chairman of Mute, launched in 1978 with his own 7” single under the name The Normal.
Since then, Daniel Miller has expanded Mute into a global group of companies: record label, Mute Song (publishing) and Mute Management, with offices in London, New York and Berlin. Running parallel to its strong commercial track record, the guiding spirit behind Mute has always been one of artistic freedom and creative adventure and Mute has nurtured and worked with artists as diverse as Depeche Mode, New Order, Goldfrapp, Erasure, Swans, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Max Richter, Ben Frost, Liars, Underworld, Jóhann Joóhannsson, Josh T Pearson, Du Blonde and Can. Daniel Miller plays regular techno DJ sets worldwide, recently appearing at Sonar, ENTER at Space in Ibiza, ADE, IMS at Ibiza and Berghain, with a legendary performance at M-Nus’ Christmas Boiler Room in Berlin.
