Dot (Kate Ellwanger) is a producer, composer, and vocalist based in Los Angeles, CA. She is an active member of TeamSupreme, Alpha Pup Records signee, and founder of Unspeakable Records, an all-female label that supports forward-thinking women in music and art.
Dot graduated from Chapman University’s Conservatory of Music, where she was first introduced to beat production in a Music Technology class taught by Dubspot beat guru Steve Nalepa. She quickly discovered Low End Theory and the thriving Los Angeles beat community, which began to profoundly impact her production aesthetic. Dot debuted her live set at Low End Theory in 2011, and continues to play regularly alongside TeamSupreme on tour and at their residency at The Echoplex (Los Angeles). Other notable performances include The Observatory OC, Eagle Rock Music Festival, Low End Theory Beat Invitationals, Syndicate (Singapore), as well as numerous other dates around the United States. She recently followed the release of her debut LP Evolve or Dissolve with the release of a 14-track EP titled SQ-1 (out now on Unspeakable Records). In addition to her solo work, Dot has collaborated with artists including SZA (TDE), Teri GenderBender (Le Butcherettes, Bosnian Rainbows) and Mike Parvizi (TeamSupreme), and composes original scores for film and television. Her influences include Flying Lotus, James Blake, J Dilla, Stereolab, and fellow collaborators on TeamSupreme.
