Marije Baalman

Marije has a diverse background in physics, acoustics, electronic music and sound art, and performance.

In her artistic work Marije moves between live performance, live coding, and interactive installations involving light and sound. Her focus is on composing of behaviors and interaction modalities, creating processes driven by sensor data, rather than fixed soundtracks. She has collaborated with various people, including Alberto de Campo, Chris Salter, Michael Schumacher, Attakkalari Dance Company, and Workspace Unlimited. 

Since 2011 she is affiliated with STEIM, the Studio for Electro-Instrumental Music. She is a long-term contributor to and user of the audio programming language SuperCollider, and an active member of the Linux Audio community.
