Daniel Miller is the founder and chairman of Mute, launched in 1978 with the release of his own debut 7”, Warm Leatherette under the name The Normal. Since then, Daniel Miller has expanded Mute into one of the most influential and successful labels worldwide. Parallel to its strong commercial track record, the guiding spirit behind Mute has always been one of artistic freedom and creative adventure.
In this moderated discussion, Daniel Miller will reflect on the ideas, sounds, and attitudes that informed his decisions to nurture and work with artists on the Mute roster, which includes the likes of Depeche Mode, New Order, Goldfrapp, Erasure, Arca, Ben Frost and more.
