Jono Brandel, graphic designer and developer, will talk with Shawn James Seymour, one half of the musical duo Lullatone, about the ideas and implementation behind their audio-visual online instruments Patatap and Typatone.
Their talk will cover their inspiration, process, and the underlying intention of trying to approach composition from a different perspective, including detailed examples of how the sounds and visuals were made.
They’ll also touch on how posting the project online led to new iterations thought up entirely by the users. By exploring how community-created content has expanded the project beyond its initial scope, we can gain an understanding of what it means to make and release something in the age of the internet.
You'll also have an opportunity to try out these instruments for yourself, and show off your beat-making skills.
