Hosted by AGF
Field recording is the art of capturing the sounds of the real world. Often, field recordings are incorporated into music or sound art as a single textural element, transformed and recontextualized by the other sounds around them. Other times, field recordings are presented unaltered, as a snapshot of the sound of a particular time and place.
In this participatory workshop, led by artist Antye Greie-Ripatti (aka AGF), we explore the philosophical and technical possibilities of field recordings as a tool for adding variety, space, identity, and integrity to composition or sound art.
The workshop concentrates on mobile recording, with a field trip through a Berlin neighborhood. Afterwards, recordings and results will be auditioned and discussed together and finally, assembled into an audio work.
