Olivier Gillet is responsible for Mutable Instruments’ product design and hardware/software engineering.
Olivier has been crafting audio signal processing code for more than two decades, working on projects as diverse as research on drum loop analysis or automatic music transcription, recommendation systems for online music services, game audio engines, or one of the very first mobile DAW. In 2009, he designed his first hardware synthesizer, the Shruti-1, to teach himself electronics. The project became popular in the synth DIY community, and prompted him to found Mutable Instruments to distribute his creations as kits. Mutable Instruments later transitioned to Eurorack modules in 2013, with a bold commitment to open-source/open-hardware, and is still run single-handedly by Olivier.
