With Deantoni Parks, Kirk Knight and Kyoka. Moderated by Tony Nwachukwu.
From classic drum breaks sourced from dusty vinyl to highly processed, through granulated ambient textures that started life as field recordings, to wildly pitched and chopped vocal fragments of footwork, grime and R ’n B, sampling is an integral part of the modern production workflow.
As the number of tools for capturing and manipulating samples has grown and become more flexible, so too has the variety of techniques and usage of sampling proliferated. What are the different ways that music makers today work with samples?
The participants in this presentation are noted producers and performers who work in different musical genres and who all use samples extensively. They’ll be discussing how and where they source their samples and demonstrating the approaches they have each developed to meet their individual musical needs and interests.
