With Jana Winderen
The environment is full of sounds that we don’t take the time to notice, but a refocusing of our listening habits can open up vast sonic worlds that can enrich our music-making practice – both in the sound materials we can have at our disposal and in the way we relate to the natural world.
Led by renowned field recordist and sound artist Jana Winderen, this workshop will begin with learning to focus your attention on and analyze previously unheard environmental sound. Building on this, the second half of the all-day workshop will be spent capturing sounds using your own recording equipment and combining, selecting and editing field recordings for your individual music-making goals.
Learn more and hear examples of Jana Winderen's field recording work in this recent The Wire magazine article.
No experience is necessary to take part in this workshop. You’ll only need to bring your own recording device.
Due to the small group format of these events, workshops will require pre-registration. Registrations will take place in October 2016. Each Loop ticket holder will be able to register for one workshop.
