Modular 101: An introduction to Eurorack

With Thomas Kircher and Stefan Knauthe

With interest in all things modular at an all-time high, what was once a cottage industry serving a niche clientele now seems to be growing at nearly exponential rates. With established synth makers jumping into the Eurorack game, the sounds and techniques that modular synthesis affords can now be found being used in just about every sub-genre of electronic music, and beyond.

In this workshop, sound artist and Schneidersladen sales manager Thomas Kircher, together with Ableton Certified Trainer and modular enthusiast Stefan Knauthe will give you an introduction to the world of modular synthesis. The hosts will provide first hand knowledge of basic modular synthesis techniques and concepts as well as giving an overview of modular methods for controlling, modulating, routing and mixing. The workshop will also cover the various ways of combining software-based digital setups and the voltage controlled world of modular synthesizers.

No previous experience necessary. Basic knowledge of synthesizers will be beneficial.

Due to the small group format of these events, workshops will require pre-registration. Registrations will take place in October 2016. Each Loop ticket holder will be able to register for one workshop.
