It’s undeniable that making music with others can be an extremely fruitful and fun way of working. However, collaboration also requires certain skills that solo producers may not always innately possess – it can be tricky to find the balance between being inspired by your collaborator and staking out enough space for your own ideas.
Berlin-based production duo UMA have devised this workshop to help you polish your collaboration skills and to explore creative strategies for fast and fun music making with others.
Within the workshop’s carousel format, participants take turns working on a part of every other participant’s unfinished track. The limited time allotted for each turn encourages you to react intuitively and not overthink the task at hand.
Some production experience and familiarity with Ableton Live is required. Please bring your laptop, headphones and (optional) a MIDI controller you are used to working with, plus an unfinished piece of music in the form of an Ableton Live Set.
Due to the small group format of these events, workshops will require pre-registration. Registrations will take place in October 2016. Each Loop ticket holder will be able to register for one workshop.
