Sample and synthesis: multilayering and creative audio processing

With Monolog

Notwithstanding the huge variety of readymade sounds available to electronic musicians these days, there is still much to be said for taking the long route and crafting the elements of your music yourself. Beyond simply loading presets that “do the trick”, a more hands-on approach to honing sound can open up new ways of thinking about composition, idea creation and innovation.

Driven by a fascination with creating new timbres, Mads Lindgren aka Monolog will guide you through the intricacies of processing, layering and applying synthesis techniques to samples. Conceived as more than just a lesson in sound design, the aim of this workshop is to help you come up with truly unique timbres to make your compositions stand out.

No experience is necessary. Please bring a laptop with one working USB port and Live 9.6.2 or later installed. You are also requested to bring a song where you would like to improve the timbre of a percussive, tonal or textural element.

Due to the small group format of these events, workshops will require pre-registration. Registrations will take place in October 2016. Each Loop ticket holder will be able to register for one workshop.
