Gijs Gieskes is an industrial designer from the Netherlands specializing in the manufacture and design of audiovisual equipment for live performance.
Gieskes works with circuit-bending and old-school computer graphics to construct mechanical devices for musical and visual expression. His objects, devices and systems can be described as the unintentional and unexplained consequence of a disturbance in one or more digital information flows. Another name for this phenomenon is ‘glitch’. Gieskes also regularly gives workshops, exhibitions and demonstrations of his machines, and takes occasional work commissions from artists.
