Jerrilynn Patton, known as Jlin, is an electronic music producer from Gary, Indiana.
Patton began producing music in 2008, and received early attention for her innovative 2011 track "Erotic Heat." She was initially hesitant to release the song because it did not fit the conventional sound of footwork, however after receiving encouragement from scene figureheads such as RP Boo and DJ Rashad the track was ultimately released on Planet Mu's seminal Chicago juke and footwork compilation Bangs & Works, Vol. 2 in 2011, and was later used by fashion designer Rick Owens for his 2014 fashion show.
Patton released her debut album Dark Energy on Planet Mu in 2015 to critical acclaim, and its release helped to popularize footwork on a global stage. In 2017, Jlin released her second album Black Origami, which featured collaborations with William Basinski, Holly Herndon, Fawkes, and Dope Saint Jude.
