Jowaa makes Afrobeat for the rave age and is comprised of Ghanian DJ/artists Gafacci & BBRAV.

With dancing as its vehicle, Jowaa’s aim is to bridge worlds, diversify sound and connect people. After watching the rise of kuduro in Luanda and gqom in Durban, Jowaa believe it’s time for Accra to show its movement, to offer alternate means to connect people and open up minds. Jowaa take this fertile terrain into fifth gear, using stripped down electronic arrangements to bring Ghana’s rhythms to a new level.

Gafacci is a Fruity Loops genius who has worked with countless Ghanaian artists, among them Dee Moneey, Sarkodie, Chase, D-Black, Ice Prince and Dr Cryme. Jowaa came to life in early 2017 after brewing for two years, when Gafacci met BBRAVE and they realized their common passion for both Ghanaian and electronic music. After several musical trials and tribulations, the pair fine-tuned their sound and concept - getting people to dance hard, “jo waa,” in Accra’s Ga language.
As a live show, Gafacci takes control of the compositions, by recreating them live using Ableton, something completely unorthodox and innovative in the Ghanaian producer scene. The duo has been quick to gather attention within Ghana’s most forward thinking circuits, with their first official performance at Accra dot Alt’s renowned Sabolai Radio festival in December 2016, followed by Beat Phreaks’ No Request underground showcase, and the much anticipated 2017 edition of the coastal Asa Baako Festival. International attention soon followed, with an unforgettable performance at Africa Bass Culture Festival in Burkina Faso, and confirmed bookings at Nyege Nyege Festival in Uganda in September, and Europe in the fall.
