Koka Nikoladze is a Georgian artist often described as a ‘post-composer’.
Nikoladze studied at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire, Musikhochschule Stuttgart focusing on composition under Zurab Nadarejshvili and Marco Stroppa, and violin with Ernst Arakelov. Nikoladze applies his skills in programming and technology development to reinforce the belief that the will to create is one of the most dominant human instincts.
‘Post-composition’ is an umbrella term covering a broad range of concepts including traditional composition, musical instrument design, performance and installation. Nikoladze lives and works in Norway where he is conducting PhD research at the Norwegian Academy of Music. He also collaborates with a number of artists internationally and holds lectures in composition and computer music worldwide.
