Mandy Parnell is the founder of London’s Black Saloon Studios, and is an award-winning audio mastering engineer with liner note credits for Björk, Aphex Twin, Snoop Dogg, The XX, The White Stripes, Feist, Sigur Ros and Brian Eno.
Parnell first became interested in recorded music at the age of five, while listening to records on a portable Dansette player. She diligently pursued music and music technology throughout school, college and university, and landed an internship at a mastering studio. After working her way through the ranks, Parnell gained recognition as world-renowned mastering engineer and eventually decided to create her own facility, Black Saloon Studios.
Parnell’s 24 years of experience working alongside an amazing array of artists have enabled her to discover and develop her philosophies in analogue and digital audio. She has been nominated for and won numerous accolades including a Technical Grammy award, and the gong for Mastering Engineer of the Year 2015 at the MPG Awards amongst others. Parnell is also an active member of the AES, Grammys, APRS and MPG, and frequently delivers lectures on mastering and the music industry across the globe.
