Tone.js abstracts these low-level building blocks into synths, samplers and effects. It also provides an advanced scheduling and sequencing API. Additionally, since the Web Audio API runs in all modern browsers, songs composed with Tone.js can play on countless devices without needing to download or install any additional software.
The workshop will provide a brief overview of Tone.js and the Web Audio API, demonstrating the basic concepts in small snippets of code which participants can use as boilerplates for their own music.
Prerequisites: Tone.js aims to be familiar to musicians, building on concepts from modular synthesis and digital audio workstations, but some programming experience in any language is recommended.
Workshops are for small groups and require pre-registration. Workshops are only accessible if you have a ticket which includes access to the Workshops and Studio Sessions program – for information, check the FAQ. Registration is now open.
