Skype instrument lessons, musical references that cover old and new, and a following cultivated via SoundCloud.... Luke and Tess are poster children for the post-record-label age. Also known as Tennyson, the young electronic music makers’ story and sound hold lessons for veterans and emerging artists alike.
In this performative presentation, moderated by Jesse Terry, Luke and Tess will share their journey from cover band to innovators, discussing the roles played by the internet, their hometown, and working with high-profile patrons and mentors. The talk will then examine the anatomy of a Tennyson show, featuring examples of how Luke’s automation changes the sounds of what Tess plays in real-time. Finally, following a short Q&A, we’ll get to experience a live performance.
