SK Shlomo started out as a beatboxer, achieving global acclaim before moving into live looping and becoming the first world looping champion. As his fame and popularity grew, so did the size and complexity of his rig. So, he decided to tread the path of most resistance, creating his own customized software looping instrument using Max for Live.
In this performative presentation, SK Shlomo tells the story of how he arrived at the point of needing tools that didn’t yet exist, and how this necessity spurred the process of building his own. Weaving in performances and demonstrations, the session will reveal how more hardware can lead to more problems, why getting started is often the hardest part, and how facing up to what scares you can be amazingly productive in the end.
