Christopher ‘Monty’ Montgomery is the creator of the open source Vorbis audio format, and the Ogg Free Software container format.
The New Hampshire resident holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science with a concentration in music from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a M.Eng. in Computer Engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology.
Monty founded the Xiph.Org Foundation, which also maintains the Speex and FLAC codecs. He is currently a research engineer at the Mozilla Corporation, where he works on digital media standards.
At Loop, he will be participating in a panel discussion on myths of the audio world, debunking widely-held beliefs about audio quality and fidelity.
