Noveller is the solo electric guitar project of Los-Angeles-based composer and filmmaker Sarah Lipstate.

Lipstate has recorded music for over a decade, with pieces ranging from remarkably tense environments to shimmering psychedelic rock to brooding, dark textures. She has released a large catalog of solo Noveller work on No Fun Productions, Important Records, Weird Forest, Taiga and her own imprint Saffron Recordings. Lipstate has been a member of Ben Frost’s Music for 6 Guitars Ensemble, Rhys Chatham’s Guitar Army and Glenn Branca’s 100 Guitar Ensemble, collaborated with Lee Ranaldo, Carla Bouzulich and JG Thirlwell, and performed as a member of Cold Cave, Parts & Labor and One Umbrella. She has scored a number of feature and short films, as well as the Radiolab live show with Glenn Kotche of Wilco and Darin Gray.

In 2014, Sarah signed with Fire Records. Her full-length Fantastic Planet appeared the following year. The label also reissued the critically acclaimed Noveller albums No Dreams and Glacial Glow in early 2016.  Following the release of Fantastic Planet, Lipstate was invited to tour with Iggy Pop across the US and Europe. She has also toured with St. Vincent, Xiu Xiu, the Jesus Lizard, U.S. Girls and Aidan Baker. In 2017, she released her eighth studio album, A Pink Sunset For No One.

At Loop, Sarah will lead a workshop on guitar sounds, introducing attendees to the myriad possibilities of the instrument and the fine art of shaping and sculpting its sound using pedals and effects.
