Open your ears and minds to the enormous potential of records and record players for generating, rather than simply reproducing sound – Maria Chavez invites you to the world of abstract turntablism.
With her book, “Of Technique: Chance Procedures on Turntable” as a focal point, Chavez will share her idiosyncratic use of vinyl records, turntables and peripherals for the extraction and destruction of sound. Attendees can try their hands at a host of unorthodox turntable interactions, and will also be encouraged to explore the lessons derived from chance encounters, accidents and improvisation in her art practice.
Workshop sessions are for those with tickets that include Workshop and Studio Session access. Groups are small, and require prior registration – ticket holders will be notified via email when sign-up opens on October 16th.
