Getting Started with Live Visuals

Responsive visual elements add compelling layers to a performance, but for musicians and producers, getting started with visuals can seem intimidating.

In this workshop, you’ll work with Vizzie 2.0 to create live performance visuals. Led by Sue Slagle, an experienced artist who works at the intersection of video and live electronic music, the session will cover all the practical skills and knowledge you need to start experimenting in the field.

Together you’ll learn the basics of video processing in 2D and 3D, as well as how to prepare audio for interactivity, create audio-reactive visuals, and customize built-in objects.  By framing video as a digital signal, the workshop reveals how visuals can be manipulated with sound, and in doing so build the foundations of understanding that you can apply as you expand your creative repertoire

No previous experience is required for this workshop. Please bring your laptop with Max downloaded and installed, as well as headphones. You can bring your own audio, video and/or USB camera or microphone if you do not have these built into your laptop.

Workshops are for those with tickets that include Workshop and Studio Session access. Groups are small, and require prior registration – ticket holders will be notified via email when sign-up opens on October 16th.
