Music Improv Sessions

Watching with Your Ears: group improvisation with dancers #1

Focused around a duo of dancers, this session highlights how working with movement can inspire new musical ideas.

Led by composer and performer, Mike Wall, participants will get a chance to improvise music that interacts with the dancers and examine how your playing affects their movement. You’ll also spend time observing, listening, and reflecting on the ways improvisation can be used as a springboard for composition.

For this workshop, participants should be proficient in at least one of the following instruments: Electric guitar, bass, keyboard, synth, drum set. Instruments will be provided but you are also welcome to bring your own.
