Coming up with compelling and meaningful lyrics remains the preserve of songwriters and vocalists, yet the skills required can be developed by anyone.
In this interactive workshop with award-winning artist, Toni Blackman, you’ll join fellow participants to form a cypher – or circle of lyrical sharing – and learn to get comfortable using your own voice and ideas to improvise a lyrical performance. Drawing on her background in poetry, theater and freestyling, she will guide the group through a series of exercises that focus on lyrical meditation, vocal performance skills, and accessing the flow state.
The session is designed to heighten access to creativity, expand on what it means to express yourself verbally, and strengthen your presentation skills. It will also create a space for personal development, community building and influencing change. No experience or equipment is necessary to participate in this workshop.
Workshops are for those with tickets that include Workshop and Studio Session access. Groups are small, and require prior registration – ticket holders will be notified via email when sign-up opens on October 16th.
