Gregory Taylor is a US-based artist and musician, workshop facilitator for Cycling '74, and the author of Step by Step: Adventures in Sequencing with Max/MSP.
Taylor studied central Javanese gamelan and electroacoustic music in the U.S. and the Netherlands. His musical career has spanned three decades, with releases in styles ranging from Javanese gamelan-inspired cassettes to solo and group improvised recordings on c74, Nachtstuck, Flood, pfMENTUM, Clang and many more.
Gregory has remixed and collaborated with a diverse group of artists and performed widely in group settings with a long list of collaborators and as 25% of the quartet, Taylor Henrickson Hamer Grosse. Additionally, he has written for publications such as Wired, Array, and Option, and hosted a radio program o contemporary audio on WORT‐FM since 1986.
At Loop, Gregory will lead a workshop to introduce sequencing in Max for Live, demonstrating how to create bespoke sequencers that stay in time with a live set. After the hands-on session, attendees will come away with their own working Max sequencer device that they can immediately use and customize.
