The products of two artistic journeys can be radically different, even if they start at exactly the same point. Individual background, technique and intention all guide the creative approach and the processes used along the way.
Creative challenge Start Here returns to Loop, giving participants 12 hours to create a new piece from the same set of sounds. This year, the starting point is a set of atmospheres and sounds from Loop 2020’s venues, recorded and processed by Australian sound artist Felicity Mangan. These sounds will be available to download at 12pm CEST on Loop’s first day.
The challenge is open to music makers around the world. Cairo-based soundscape-maker ZULI, Russian footwork innovator A. Fruit, and host and producer Andrew Huang will also be taking part and submitting their own brand new pieces 12 hours later. Your piece can be anything from an illustration of an idea to a fully-fledged track.
At Saturday afternoon’s main stage event, Andrew, A. Fruit and ZULI will play a selection of the submitted pieces, as well as their own, and will discuss the creative process behind each track.
