Track Deconstructions

Tracklib presents: Track Deconstruction with Major Seven

Atlanta-based producer, Major Seven, is known for his use of soul samples, beat making and intricate drum work. He has worked with the likes of Future, Jay-Z and Rihanna. Most recently, he has collaborated with DJ Khaled to create the track “Holy Mountain”, which samples the 1982 hit “One Spliff a Day” by teenage reggae artist, Billy Boyo.

In this session, Major Seven will deconstruct “Holy Mountain”, taking us step-by-step through the entire process, from the initial meeting with DJ Khaled all the way to the finished product. He’ll open up about the creative processes behind his workflow, the role of trial and error, and why choosing the right collaborator is a key piece of the puzzle.
